Even Hayden was still for a moment yesterday, to enjoy the gentle afternoon sun on his toes.
It was a lovely day. A day entirely without plans. We ate well, shopped (my new green cardy is pictured above) and after our little rest we went for a bit of a walk up Castle Hill.
In this picture you can catch a glimpse of the other side of Townsville, the vast flat western side that yesterday somehow looked quite cozy, like a village in a valley.
We stayed for the sunset, then walked home in the dark.

I adore the hammock picture. It looks like bliss.
yay, finaly some picture of you on your blogg. i love hammocks. one day i'll grow a tree big enough to have one.
i noticed on your book shelf 'Tender is the Night'. Is it worth reading? The introduction of mine put me off of it so I went back to 'Number 9 Dream' by David Mitchel.. which I'm also struggling with. I loved 'Cloud Atlas' by David Mitchel and 'The Great Gastby' by our man Scott but I think TITN and N9D are both non-events.
I loved TITN ... but maybe much of that was to do with finding out more about Scott Fitzgerald's life. I would advise you to skip the introduction. I hardly ever read introductions, and almost never before I've finished the book.
I'll try to find Cloud Atlas.
I want a hammock! Always have. Only one tree in our garden though, so not likely to happen in London.
I liked both the David Mitchell books, though Cloud Atlas is the better. I thought Number9Dream had a more sympathietic main character, I'd skim-read the kamikaze pilot diary though. And skip the awful 'Goatwriter' bits altogether - they add nothing.
can you send some sunshine to go with our hammock please...
I'm sending it ... it will get to you in about, oh, four or five months.
